Rooted in nearly a century of legal tradition, Akl Law Firm is one of Lebanon's oldest continuously operating practices — bridging local insight with international standards in corporate, banking, real estate and dispute resolution matters.
The firm's origins are intertwined with the very evolution of Lebanese law — from the country's early legislative framework to today's cross-border practice.
A graduate of Saint Joseph University and native of Damour, George Akl was among the early generation of Lebanese lawyers and played a formative role in shaping the country's legislative framework. He served multiple terms as Member of Parliament (1943, 1953, 1957) and as Minister of Education and Information (1956), founding several professional syndicates that helped define Lebanon's legal and civic identity.
From the 1970s, Jihad Akl carried the legacy forward, developing the firm into a multidisciplinary practice bridging civil, commercial and corporate law. His professional rigor and ethical conviction earned him election to the Beirut Bar Association's Board in 1985. Today, his invaluable expertise continues to support the firm in an advisory capacity.
Under the leadership of Me Carole J. Akl, the third generation of the family, the firm combines the depth of its Lebanese roots with a forward-looking, international perspective — extending its practice between Beirut and Paris.
To be the leading regional reference in real estate, commercial and banking law — combining legal mastery with forward-thinking innovation to deliver tailored, strategic solutions. We lead with integrity, precision and responsiveness, empowering our clients and partners to achieve enduring success in an evolving legal landscape.
Me Carole J. Akl holds a Bachelor in Law (1996) and an LL.M. in Business Law (2017) from Saint Joseph University of Beirut, as well as a Master's Degree in Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution from Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II), in collaboration with the Filière Francophone (2003).
With over two decades of legal practice, she has advised corporate groups, banks and financial institutions, and development entities throughout Lebanon and the MENA region. Her career bridges private practice and in-house leadership — including tenure as Group Head of Legal within a regional distribution and FMCG conglomerate, and as Senior Legal Counsel for banks and large-scale real estate, retail and mixed-use development projects in Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and the UAE, where she established, managed and led legal departments.
At the helm of Akl Law Firm, she combines a rigorous legal background with an understanding of contemporary business realities — providing strategic advice that is both legally sound and commercially pragmatic. She is seconded by a dynamic lawyer and benefits from the invaluable advisory support of her father, in a collaborative, multigenerational practice.
